Many many more reasons to fall in love with Portland.

Pedalpalooza is 2+ weeks of bikey fun. With 190 events, most organized by individuals, bikers of all persuasions are likely to find many events of interest. Nearly all events are free.

http://shift2bikes.org/cal/viewpp2009.phpAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773814479902729178.post-40367617022282625982009-05-28T14:58:54.898-07:002009-05-28T14:58:54.898-07:00however,would you see that enthusiasm in a similar...however,would you see that enthusiasm in a similar sized city like OK City or Albuquerque?
Its totally normal to pay attention to your neighbors and peers over visitors from elsewhere, though probably poor manners. And imitation is the ultimate result of an innovative idea.

I am a Portlander also, and have watched the bike culture evolve fron a small insular group where most cyclists knew each other to a true critical mass. we don't even hold CM rides here because we have achieved CM. I respect what you are saying, and at the same time am proud of our achievements. At the same time, I just got back from SLC and Denver and didn't see anything close to the rideable city Portland has. I would love to see other major US cities make the strides Portland has made, and hope Portland doesn't get complacent. It's not that Portland is so great, its just that a lot of the US sucks for cyclists more than Portland does.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11165660356824243145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773814479902729178.post-51536072489950990212009-05-28T14:40:20.168-07:002009-05-28T14:40:20.168-07:00Yeah, Portland "bikeyness" gets that way sometimes...Yeah, Portland "bikeyness" gets that way sometimes. The best way to remind yourself that it's only certain people is to go out on a sunny weekend and see all the hundreds of people riding around in normal clothes enjoying themselves. Or go to a race, depending on your preference :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773814479902729178.post-25169742531935628812009-05-28T13:54:23.144-07:002009-05-28T13:54:23.144-07:00whoa sorry for the weird name (tyqVGgMuqunPljNvpNS...whoa sorry for the weird name (tyqVGgMuqunPljNvpNSwiLs19fS0_kDtm5e.o5w-)
sometimes openid is not my friend
Shawn Small (Ruckus Components)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773814479902729178.post-19035476034004265912009-05-28T13:51:44.812-07:002009-05-28T13:51:44.812-07:00Your thoughts and insight are greatly appreciated....Your thoughts and insight are greatly appreciated.

As a new builder in the PDX area I am apprehensive about doing the Oregon Manifest show, for the same reasons you pointed out. When the manifest was proposed two years ago, Nate and I were worried that the idea was suffering from a lack of humility, and reading your blog confirms that the rest of the country is getting pretty tired of the Portland bike antics. Nothing wrong with being balsey enough to say it.matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13918556669251643215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773814479902729178.post-68977208545123910202009-05-26T19:18:17.278-07:002009-05-26T19:18:17.278-07:00Maybe I'm not really saying it right.....these imi...Maybe I'm not really saying it right.....these imitators clearly have talent and desire.....I just think they should be themselves and listen to the folks that they'll hopefully be building bikes for.swiggco worldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06676250248559678763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773814479902729178.post-87416526593587838452009-05-26T04:40:56.603-07:002009-05-26T04:40:56.603-07:00I'll be right beside you boss.I'll be right beside you boss.Ryehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02200281775891130736noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773814479902729178.post-17800648971421803162009-05-25T23:26:41.325-07:002009-05-25T23:26:41.325-07:00Yeah, sometimes the truth hurts a little, but us y...Yeah, sometimes the truth hurts a little, but us youngsters are learning to grow thick skins.matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13918556669251643215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773814479902729178.post-41194352415814411322009-05-25T09:12:21.400-07:002009-05-25T09:12:21.400-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.bghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14877178643853000024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773814479902729178.post-7248488594052863002009-05-25T08:07:54.455-07:002009-05-25T08:07:54.455-07:00thanks, Paul - that was a great article! i'm d...thanks, Paul - that was a great article! i'm digging your insight & writing. thanks for all you offer.
